And then HE comes in, all in white...

First, there were concerts in Poland - Krakow, Warsaw - and enthusiastic opinions, even from those who claimed that TR/ST live was a waste of time. This only made me more excited for the show until it was finally time for me to head to the capital of Germany. The long tail in front of the club made it clear that the band was not some no-name band, it already had an established brand, and the great last album only enlarged the group of fans and recipients.
I've already visited a lot of clubs in Berlin, but the visit to Festsaal Kreuzberg was my first one and I must admit that this place of debauchery was perfect for this concert. The whole thing reminded me a bit of the club from the music video for Performace or Presentation , if you prefer.
They came in a little late, in the thick fog of dry ice, the drums pounded, Robert gurgled on vocals and... wtf?! The guy at the knobs and sliders clearly overslept, a tragedy mixed with disappointment. The only thing that could be heard was the girl on the drums, commonly called Jolka, who was banging on the drums as if she was fighting for her life, electronics were breaking through somewhere, and the vocals were coming from the Mariana Trench. The first two songs were lost, only the third one, Slug , evened everything out and everything was as it should be.
Do you sometimes feel like you can't sit in one place and you find yourself in a mode of excessive movement, treading or walking? Sure, everyone has excess energy sometimes, and now we multiply it by ten and we get Robert Alfons on stage. This guy did not stay calm for even a single minute during this concert, even songs that were theoretically calm and balanced were sung with movement and expression.
He ran, jumped, turned windmills, and if out of nowhere he suddenly sprouted wings, he would surely fly away. He infected the audience with this energy and, of course, with great songs - Capitol , Candy Walls , Colossal are well-known songs and fantastically received by fans.
Near me, a boy arrived with his girlfriend in a wheelchair, I can't describe her happiness, her head almost fell off from waving her feathers. Robert didn't let up even for a moment, he added more unique songs: All at Once from the last album, the wonderful Iris , and right behind it my favorite Bicep .
He spoiled us this evening because he has already released five albums and we heard something from each of them. Performance dominated , with five sung numbers, but TRST was not indebted to it, we also heard five songs. Just one of The Destroyer 2 – but what a great one! – Iris . Closing the topic of the set list, I was lucky to hear two more songs than my compatriots at concerts in the country.
For me personally, the measure of a performer's class is whether they can reproduce the vocals from the studio, from the album live, among the listeners. When recording an album, you can hide imperfections and flaws, but live shows are unforgiving. Robert may not have surprised you in this respect, but he did phenomenally, with his frog song of course; it was perfect, apart from the first two songs, which were an acoustic crime story.
For the encore, we heard as many as four songs and it became even more danceable thanks to Robrash and Run , the breath on the stage was shaking, we were jumping, the glass was breaking, Robert was drinking prosecco, and Jolka on the drums was laughing happily, as if she was just getting married - actually then I don't know if that's the right word; ).
Twenty songs in total,
twenty fantastic moments,
twenty new musical memories,
twenty reasons why it was worth being at this concert,
twenty… priceless emotional moments.
